An overview of the Do Son Casino in Haiphong City.
Built in the late 1990s with an investment of several tens of millions of US dollars, Do Son was Vietnam’s first and only legal casino at the time. It was once a prominent attraction on the Do Son Peninsula.
The venue ceased operations in 2020 due to Covid-19 prevention measures and has remained closed ever since. Authorities confirmed that the project’s operational licence has now expired.
Designed in European Renaissance architectural style, the building was once described as a majestic seaside palace. Its construction featured materials such as marble, precious woods and metal finishes, creating an opulent and refined atmosphere. A vast outdoor space, complete with landscaped gardens, a seaside walkway and a park, further enhanced its grandeur.

However, after years of inactivity, the property has deteriorated significantly. Many areas have suffered visible damage, with peeling canopies and collapsing ceilings.

In October 2024, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh visited the site during a working trip to Haiphong. During the meeting, city officials proposed that the government approve an extension of the Do Son Casino project, allowing investors to resume operations and undertake renovation efforts.
