Locals complain over illogically-placed bus stops

The residents along Xa Dan Street Hanoi, have complained about the bus stops which are placed in the middle of the road.

Xa Dan Street is 50 metres wide, 1.5 kilometres long with six lanes. However, several bus stops are placed over two metres away from the pavements.

Phong, a resident in Trung Tu Ward, said when Xa Dan Street was built, the traffic flow was very low so they didn't pay attention to the bus stops. But now, the street is crowded with frequent congestion and the bus stops look like islands surrounded by vehicles. In order to get to the bus, passengers have to cross the two-metre space filled with motorbikes and sometimes, even cars.

According to the locals, they have seen many collisions on this street when the buses arrive. At some sections, the space behind the bus stops was used as a parking place.

One bus stop is placed at the end of the narrower section of the street and causes traffic bottleneck when the bus picks up and drops off passengers.

There's still no solution to deal with illogically-placed bus stops on Xa Dan Street as of yet.
