Decree No.168/2024/ND-CP, issued by the Prime Minister, has been in effect since January 1, imposing tougher regulations on traffic violations.
Thanks to the decree application, traffic violations on many roads in Hanoi have considerably decreased.
On Friday morning, at an intersection in Cau Giay District, vehicles stopped completely in accordance with the regulations, unlike the usual chaotic scene of rampant red-light running.
At the Mai Dich intersection, traffic compliance was generally good.
However, there were still some individuals running red lights despite the higher fines.
Under Decree No.168/2024/ND-CP, cars that fail to stop at red lights will face a fine of VND20 million (USD780), up from the previous VND6 million (USD230). Meanwhile, the fine for motorbikes running red flights will be VND4-6 million.
In the area near My Dinh Station, some vehicles were still traveling in the wrong direction. The fine for this violation has been increased to VND4-6 million, up from VND1-2 million earlier.
While stopping at traffic lights, many motorbike drivers cross the line, obstructing the path for pedestrians.
Traffic policemen directly reminded people of new fines for traffic violations.
