Airfares for upcoming Tet Holiday double

As the Tet Lunar New Year, Vietnam’s biggest holiday is just nearly three months away, airfares have sharply risen on some routes.

On the HCM City- Quy Nhon route, the lowest prices will be VND 5.5 million on flights operated by Vietjet Air, Vietravel Airlines, and Bamboo Airways while Vietnam Airlines tickets cost up to VND10 million.

The lowest Vietjet Air flights tickets on the HCM City-Thanh Hoa route cost  VND7.3 million while the rate is VND10 million on Vietnam Airlines flights.

To meet the rising travel demand during the holiday, local airlines have already launched the sale of holiday tickets, with Vietnam Airlines Group offering nearly 1.5 million seats and Vietjet 2.6 million seats available.

“Book early to enjoy discounted prices and convenient flight times for family reunions or spring travel across Vietnam and internationally,” the low-cost carrier Vietjet Air said in its release.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has also given licenses for airlines to increase the frequency of many domestic and international flights for their winter flight schedule in order to meet passenger travel needs during the final months of this year.

Four Vietnamese airlines, namely Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Vietravel Airlines, and Bamboo Airways, as well as some 72 foreign airlines, are operating a total of 2,720 round-trip flights per week throughout the winter schedule, starting from October 27 to March 29, 2025.

CAAV has also given licenses for five local airlines to operate a total of 98 regular international routes to 20 countries and territories, an increase of six routes compared to the summer flight schedule.

Meanwhile, foreign airlines from 30 countries and territories launching regular international flights to Vietnam are operating passenger or cargo flights on 124 routes, an increase of three compared to the summer flight schedule.

For domestic flights, Vietnamese airlines are operating 45 routes connecting 22 local airports in the country.

In terms of the winter flight schedule, Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, and Da Nang are the airports which will have the highest frequency and intensity of operations.
