Vietnam’s largest pagoda crowded on Tet
Bai Dinh Pagoda in the northern province of Ninh Binh, the largest in Vietnam, has welcomed a large number of visitors on the first days of the Lunar New Year.
On Friday, the opening ceremony of the Bai Dinh Pagoda Festival was held with representatives from Ninh Binh authorities and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Committee.
At the ceremony, religious dignitaries, monks, nuns and worshippers performed rituals to pray for peace, good weather, prosperity, and happiness.
The festival consists of two parts: the rituals and the festive activities, which create joy and excitement for locals and visitors alike. It will run until the end of the third lunar month.
Since February 10, the pagoda which is located in the UNESCO-recognised Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex in Gia Vien District, has received 150,000 people from different localities.
The 1,000-year-old pagoda has become a favourite destination for many people after the Tet holiday.
