A street parade held on July 6 will kick off the week, thereby encouraging local people to join the function.
A wide range of activities will be held, including exhibitions on Ao Dai and Non La (palm-leaf conical hat), art performances, workshops on Ao Dai and the young generation, a contest about traditional Vietnamese long dresses, and fashion shows.
Most notably, a photo exhibition on Ao Dai featuring on stamps, special corners which introduce local people wearing traditional outfit in daily lives, and flashmob performances are expected to draw the attention of both residents and tourists.
Local officials, staff, businesspeople, and students are encouraged to wear Ao Dai during the course of the week, which will run until July 12.
The community Ao Dai week organised by the Thua Thien-Hue provincial People’s Committee aims to promote the brand and cultural values of the Ao Dai, whilst contributing to bringing the central city’s culture closer to both domestic and international friends.
