Nguyen Van Don, 58, lives in Moc Hoa District's Binh Phong Thanh Commune with his 32-year-old son in a run-down wooden house built seven years ago.

The house has severely deteriorated and can collapse at any time. When it rains heavily, the house is often flooded by rainwater.
According to Don, his son has been living with mental problems since he was ten years old. Despite being taken to different hospitals, his condition has not yet improved.
Two months ago, Don was diagnosed with kidney failure. However, he has given up the treatment due to the family's financial difficulties.
His disease has worsened, causing swollen and painful feet. He cannot go out to earn money.

Don's wife is the family breadwinner. She works as a domestic helper in Binh Phuoc and earns a modest income of VND5 million (USD196.46) per month.
"I just want a secure home to live in so that I will be safe during stormy nights," Don said.
