The donations came after an article about Nguyen Thi Hieu’s family had been published on Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper.

Hieu said that her husband Ho Sy Kiem, 63, faced mental problems just a short time after they had a third child, Ho Sy Du, in 1994. Since then, Hieu has become the family breadwinner.
In 2015, Hieu’s eldest son Ho Sy Duyen experienced the same disease as his father. When his condition grew more complicated, his wife left home without saying a word when their son was just 15 days old.
According to Hieu, her husband and sons usually scream and beat her.
Meanwhile, her seven-year-old grandson also displays unusual symptoms, stirring worries about the possibility that he would have the same fate as his father.
