The central province of Thua Thien-Hue has planned to relocate around 13,510 households as Typhoon Yagi is approaching.

According to local authorities, 46,073 people are in areas forecasted to be hit by the super typhoon.

Boats are asked to seek shelter to avoid the super typhoon

By the morning of September 5, as many as 33 boats and ships in Thua Thien-Hue were still at sea and had been updated with storm information.

Local authorities instructed five boats and ships from other localities to seek shelter during the storm.

Localities in Thua Thien-Hue have stockpiled 100 tonnes of rice and 100 tonnes of instant noodles.

The two mountainous districts of Nam Dong and A Luoi, often vulnerable to being isolated because of storms and floods, have stockpiled necessities such as rice, instant noodles, fuel, and bottled drinking water.

Meanwhile, the central province of Nghe An has also planned evacuations, asked vessels and boats still operating at sea to move to safe shelters and inspected dykes before the super typhoon.

Storm Yagi has been predicted to ravage Vietnam's northern coast on Saturday. Quang Ninh Province and Haiphong City will be most affected. It is forecasted to cause torrential rain in the north and central regions of Vietnam.
