The 15 metro routes will have a total length of 610 kilometres. Ten routes, with a total length of 410 kilometres, are expected to be completed before 2035.

By 2035, the city will need around USD 37.5 billion to build 10 metro lines.

The city plans to launch the first phase of Metro Line 2 next year, linking Nam Thang Long Street in Dong Anh District and Tran Hung Dao Street in Hoan Kiem District. The 11.5-kilometre section, which would cost an estimated VND35.58 trillion (USD1.42 billion), is slated to be completed in 2029.

Hanoi will also prioritise the construction of the second phase of Metro Line 3, which will connect Hanoi Station in Dong Da District and Hoang Mai District. The 8.7-kilometre section, costing VND40.51 trillion, will run underground.
