A blaze burnt down a 13,800-square-metre timber store in the southern province of Dong Nai on August 7.

According to a report from local authorities, the fire broke out at 9.30 pm at the Shingmark Vina Company store in the Bau Xeo Industrial Zone.

Hundreds of firefighters and more than 20 fire engines were sent to the site, and they worked through the night to control the fire.

However, the whole store containing wood materials and products was burnt down in three hours.

By early Thursday morning, many firefighters sprayed water to cool down the area.

The head of the Dong Nai Provincial Department of Fire Fighting and Prevention, Nguyen Van Hai, said that the accident occurred after all the workers had left for about 30 minutes.

"When we arrived, the store had almost collapsed as the fire had spread all over the area," Hai said. "We managed to control it by around 1 am on Thursday, and there was no loss of life."

The Taiwanese Shingmark Vina Company is among the largest firms in Dong Nai, with over 5,000 workers, specialising in wood processing and exporting.
