Danang establishes dogcatcher unit
Chinh Gian Ward People's Committee in the central city of Danang's Thanh Khe District launched a team to catch stray dogs and cats on November 20.

The new team will focus on catching feral dogs and cats and suspected rabies-infected animals, and monitor and hold them for 24 hours so they can be vaccinated.
The ward committee will announce details on the captured animals and owners can collect them after paying a fine and monitoring fees.
The move is part of the city’s anti-rabies activities.
Hanoi has also taken the same measures to deal with rabies.
As many as 71 people in Vietnam had been killed by rabies as of early November. The high death toll has been blamed on ignorance about possible vaccination, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Department of Animal Health.
