The Nhon-Hanoi Station metro line, scheduled to begin commercial operation in late June, has faced another delay after 14 years of construction.

Speaking previously to the Tien Phong Newspaper, the Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board (MRB) promised services on the 8-km elevated section running from Nhon to Cau Giay would begin running by June 30.

However, the MRB have now said they were still waiting for authorities to conduct a final check before the line could be put into operation.

In early June, the Ministry of Transport granted quality, technical safety and environmental protection certification for ten trains on the line.

The Nhon-Hanoi Station metro project runs for 12.5 km. The line has eight elevated and four underground stations.

Work on the line started in 2009 and was initially scheduled for completion in 2015. After four extensions, it is now expected to be finished in 2027. French ODA mainly funded the VND18.41 trillion (approximately USD737 million) project. After multiple adjustments and delays, the project's investment has soared nearly 63 percent to over VND30 trillion.
