Vietnam Television (VTV) announced on September 16 that it had secured the broadcasting rights for Asiad 20 in Vietnam.
Domestic fans will be able to watch competitions from the Asian Games on VTV's official platforms, including television and VTVGo.

Before reaching an agreement to acquire the Asiad 20 rights, VTV had already broadcast several events featuring Vietnamese teams from September 14, including women's football, men's football and women's volleyball.
The last time VTV held the full broadcasting rights for the Asian Games was in 2010, when the event was held in Guangzhou, China. At the 2018 Asiad in Indonesia, the official broadcasting rights in Vietnam belonged to VTC and VOV.
For Asiad 19 in Hangzhou, China, in 2023, the asking price reportedly reached around VND 360 billion (USD 13.8 million), preventing Vietnamese broadcasters from completing a deal.
Asiad 20 will take place from September 19 to October 4, featuring 469 events across 43 sports. Athletics will offer the most gold medals, with 50 sets, followed by swimming with 41, shooting with 28, canoeing with 20, wrestling and gymnastics with 18 each, weightlifting with 16, and wushu and karate with 15 each. Sailing and rowing will each offer 14 sets of medals.
About 11,000 athletes from 45 countries and territories are expected to compete at Asiad 20. Japan will send the largest delegation, with 932 athletes, followed by China with 815, South Korea with 792, Thailand with 694 and Hong Kong with 581.
Vietnam ranks 13th with a delegation of 349 athletes and has set a target of winning at least four gold medals.
The opening ceremony of the Asian Games will be held on September 19. It will be themed “Harmonic Heart Beat”, developed from the main slogan “Imagine One Asia”.
