Japanese violin prodigy to perform in HCMC

Japanese violin prodigy Anna Sowanna Takeda will return to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to perform on November 29.

She will attend a symphony concert with orchestral musicians from the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music in the southern hub. The concert, to start at 8p.m. at 122 Nguyen Du Street, District 1, will be led by renowned Japanese conductor Yoshikazu Fukumura, who has worked as conductor of the Japanese Philharmonic Orchestra and led many orchestras in Japan and other countries, including Vietnam.

Among the classical compositions to be brought on stage are “Tzigane for Violin & Orchestra” by Ravel, “Introduction & Rondo Capriccioso” by Saint-Saens, “Saerenade for String Orchestra” by Antonin Dvorak and “Symphony No.41 Jupiter” of Mozart.

Born in 1992, Takeda began playing the violin when she was just five years old. At the age of 15, the Thai-Japanese violinist won a national contest in Thailand over three consecutive years and won the top prize at the Osaka International Music Competition in Japan.

Last year, Takeda collaborated with Fukumura in three symphony concerts held in Hanoi and HCMC.
