Hue opens Imperial Citadel at night with free-entry show

The central city of Hue has opened its Imperial Citadel to night-time visitors during the peak holiday season, featuring the free-entry programme Mystical Royal Court.

Running from April 25-28, the show recreates the royal court at night through a series of artistic performances and immersive cultural experiences, offering visitors a rare after-dark tour of the historic complex.

The programme coincides with the Reunification Day (April 30)-May 1 holiday, when Hue is staging a range of large-scale cultural and tourism events. The city expects to receive around 389,000 visitors during the period.

Local tourism operators have also introduced new products, including tours along the Ngu Ha River and experiential trips to the Tam Giang Lagoon, catering to diverse visitor demand.

Authorities said inspections would be stepped up to ensure price transparency, public order and environmental hygiene, while improving service quality at key destinations.

Industry representatives said the sector is focusing on enhancing value rather than discounting, with added services such as transport support, guided tours and complimentary short trips aimed at encouraging longer stays and higher visitor spending.
