During netting the rare soft shell turtle of Hoan Kiem, rescuers said they detected another old turtle in the lake and will catch it for treatment soon.

Nguyen Ngoc Khoi, head of the rescue team said on April 4 that the they plan to take the newly found turtle to the treatment place in the next two weeks after finishing treatment on the one already captured.
Khoi was not specific, however, about the type of turtle they found, or whether it is the same as Cu Rua.
The injuries found on the first turtle after he was brought to his holding tank were not as serious as expected, but some wounds on the back legs have the potential to cause serious health problems, he said.
According to Khoi, treatment of the turtle, which was caught on April 3, would take around two weeks.
After one week of the treatment, the turtle could be taken to a larger enclosure for extended care, he added.
Professor Ha Dinh Duc, however, who has been doing research on the turtle for more than 20 years, says that there is only one legendary turtle in Hoan Kiem Lake.
When asked about Khoi’s statement on the second turtle, Duc declined to comment.
