Burn survivor in Ninh Binh receives further support from donors

A man left severely disabled after a workplace electrical accident in Ninh Binh Province has received additional financial support from readers and charitable donors to aid his recovery.

Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper, in cooperation with the Le Huu Trac National Burn Hospital, recently presented a symbolic donation board worth VND 384.60 million (approximately USD 14,800) to the family of Tran Van Tinh, born in 1985, from Bac Ly Commune, Ninh Binh Province.

The funds were donated by Dantri/Dtinews readers after the newspaper published an article detailing Tinh's circumstances and medical treatment following a severe electrical burn injury.

The entire amount had previously been transferred to the bank account of Nguyen Thi Trang, Tinh's wife, to help cover hospital fees, medication costs and other expenses related to his treatment.

In addition to the reader donations, philanthropists and charitable organisations visited the hospital to offer support and contributed more than VND 42 million (approximately USD 1,615), including VND 30 million (approximately USD 1,154) from the Thien Tam Foundation.

As a result, Tinh's family has received more than VND 426 million (approximately USD 16,400) in total support from Dantri readers and donors.

Recalling the difficult months following the accident, Trang said her husband, previously a healthy construction worker, had undergone multiple major operations to save his life after suffering severe injuries from a high-voltage electrical shock while working.

As a result of the accident, Tinh underwent amputations of both arms and his left leg.

"Our family can only express our deepest gratitude to the doctors and medical staff at Le Huu Trac National Burn Hospital, Dantri, its readers and all the donors who have supported us," Trang said.

"At our most desperate moment, their kindness gave us hope and the strength to continue. Thanks to this support, my husband has received better treatment and our family has been relieved of a significant financial burden."

According to Trang, Tinh's condition has improved considerably after months of intensive treatment at the hospital. He has now been discharged and is continuing rehabilitation exercises at home under medical guidance.

Doctors plan to assess him for prosthetic limbs once his condition stabilises further, helping him gradually regain independence in daily life.

Hoang Anh Duong, an officer with the hospital's Social Work Department, thanked Dantri and its readers for their continued support of patients facing financial hardship.

"The contributions from Dantri readers not only help reduce treatment costs but also provide tremendous emotional encouragement for patients and their families as they overcome adversity," Duong said.

"On behalf of the hospital, we sincerely thank Dantri, its readers and all donors for their compassion and support for Tinh's family."
