The move followed an article in the newspaper about Quach Van Doanh, 24, from Lac Thuy District.
On the evening of August 30, while cooking instant noodles, Doanh was burnt by a can of petrol, which ignited and engulfed his entire kitchen in flames.

Doanh was quickly taken to the National Burn Hospital in critical condition with up to 52 per cent of his body burnt, including 24 per cent classified as deep third and fourth-degree burns.
When the accident occurred, Doanh's family didn't even have VND50,000 (USD2) in the house. His uncle, Quach Van Thoa, helped to borrow money from different sources to cover Doanh's treatment expenses.
Doanh's father, Quach Van Vuong, met with a severe traffic accident in 2016, leaving him with epilepsy and chronic headaches. His mother, Bui Thi Hoa, has heart disease and rheumatoid arthritis, affecting her ability to work.
Of the donations to Doanh, around VND167 million were sent through Dantri/DTiNews Newspaper. The remainder was donated directly to his family.
