MUSIC & PERFORMANCES

Hanoi-Special spiritual and cultural activities to welcome Tet

Thang Long Imperial Citadel, 19C Hoang Dieu Street, Ba Dinh District

Along with spiritual activities, the TLHNHCC is also holding special puppet shows for visitors from January 30 to February 2 at 9.30am, 10.30am, 11.30am, 3pm and 4pm.

All of the events at the citadel will run from January 20 until February 6 (December 21, 2024 to January 9, 2025 in the lunar calendar).

Hanoi-The Pillowman

From the organizer:

The first production to launch New Backstage, directed by an emerging talent, Bui Thac Phong, is inspired by the play The Pillowman by the renowned British-Irish playwright & filmmaker Martin McDonagh.

This version of ‘The Pillowman’ at manzi will provide a minimalist yet bold presentation: The staging brings about a close engagement of the audience into the characters’ narratives and their emotion journeys.

Hanoi-Calligraphy festival

What's on January 27-February 2, 2025 - 2

The Temple of Literature

Featuring 47 calligraphers, all of whom are members of calligraphic clubs and selected from a writing competition, perform the writing.

Along with the calligraphy writing activities, three exhibitions will also get underway, including one to showcase nearly 100 art works produced by famous scholars such as King Le Thanh Tong, teacher Chu Van An, national hero Nguyen Trai, and poet Nguyen Du to honour the tradition of learning and to show respect for teachers.

Furthermore, 50 photographs selected from Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards will be exhibited, to introduce Vietnam’s landscapes and the daily lives of local people.

An exhibition featuring 77 paintings of 75 Vietnamese painters living in Vietnam and abroad will be held. 

An exhibition of traditional crafts such as pottery, paper making, and embroidery will also be held on this occasion.

Various art performances including chèo (traditional operetta), quan họ (duet singing), and ca trù (ceremonial singing), and folk games will be introduced at the event.

Featuring a series of events to celebrate the 2025 Lunar New Year

Some of the special events include the Ocean International Lantern Festival – Eastern Light, the Spring Fair 2025, the Oriental Light Festival 2025, the Ocean Jam street music festival, the Sweet Love Festival, the Eastern Costume Festival, among others.

Featuring a variety of art exhibitions and musical performances.

There is an exhibition of historical relics and items from the Central Highlands, including traditional farming tools, musical instruments, jewellery, and objects used in rituals.
