At the celebration, Dao Ngoc Hung, head of the liaison board of the group, spotlighted the experts’ significant contributions to the revival of Cambodia following the fall of the brutal Pol Pot genocidal regime as well as the country’s socio-economic development.
With timely and effective support of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, Cambodia’s revolutionary force and people successfully overthrew the Pol Pot regime, culminating in the country’s liberation on January 7, 1979 - a historical milestone that marked a new era of independence, freedom and development for Cambodia.
He said the experts also helped Cambodia craft policies and plans to restore and develop its economy, culture and society after liberation as the country faced daunting tasks of rebuilding from the devastation left by the Pol Pot regime, adding despite immense difficulties, they approached their mission with remarkable dedication, sharing hardships with Cambodian friends and working tirelessly despite a sea of challenges.
The experts’ pure assistance demonstrated revolutionary heroism while contributing to Cambodia’s recovery in the 20th century, he stressed.
Other participants reflected on their shared journey that shape up the miracle revival and robust development of Cambodia, expressing their confidence that the contributions made by the Vietnamese volunteer experts and soldiers will be a legacy for younger generations of both nations./.
