Dong Hoi Airport said on July 6 that it would partner with Sun Phu Quoc Airways (SPA) to operate several new routes, including a direct connection between Dong Hoi and Cam Ranh.
The new service will operate three return flights a week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Scheduled departure times are 12.05 pm from Dong Hoi, arriving in Cam Ranh at 1.25 pm, with the return flight leaving Cam Ranh at 2.05 pm and arriving in Dong Hoi at 3.30 pm.
SPA will also operate one daily return flight between Dong Hoi and Hanoi, with schedules varying by day of the week.
Airport authorities said the Dong Hoi-Cam Ranh route would help attract higher spending travellers from southern Vietnam and international visitors, while improving access to Quang Tri and other central provinces through connections with Hanoi.
The new services are part of preparations for the 2027 National Tourism Year, which Quang Tri will host as it seeks to strengthen its position as a major tourism destination.
Meanwhile, construction of the new passenger terminal 2 at Dong Hoi Airport is accelerating. Once completed, the terminal will increase the airport's domestic capacity to three million passengers a year, with the ability to handle up to 1,200 passengers during peak hours.
