Social distancing regulations have been underway in Danang for Covid-19 prevention and control. The pandemic has seriously affected many people.
To help share difficulties with the affected people, many charity groups people in Danang and individuals have set up Zero-dong markets, including one at 131 on Chuong Duong Street and the other at 18 on Thanh Thai Street.

Ho Thanh Huyen, who is among the founders of the Zero market on Thanh Thai Street said that each person who comes to the market can choose different kinds of products such as rice, eggs, instant noodles and vegetables. Huyen’s group also brings the products to a number of unemployed people in Danang who have not yet returned to their hometown in Quang Nam due to the pandemic.
Zero-dong markets, shops and free rice distribution machines also opened in several localities in Vietnam, including Hanoi and HCM City, to assist people hit by Covid-19.
By the end of June this year, up to 7.8 million workers in Vietnam lost their jobs or had working hours reduced because of Covid-19.
The country’s GDP growth was 1.81% in the first six months of the year, the lowest level in a decade. In 2019, Vietnam saw the GDP growth of 7.02%, the second-highest figure in the last decade.
