Ba Na-Suoi Mo Resort to have two cable car systems |
The company has received preliminary approval from municipal authorities in Danang for the project, which will cost around EUR30 million (USD43.5 million).
This will be the second cable car system in the resort after the first one of 5.042 km length put into operation in March 2009. The first system sets two world’s records: the longest single-string cable car system and the biggest height gap between its departure and arrival stations of 1,291 km.
The 5.8 km new system, to be installed in parallels with the existing one, can transport 1,500-1,600 passengers per hour. Once operational in the first quarter of 2013, the telpher will bring visitors from the foot to the top of Ba Na Mountain directly, no need to go through the transit of Vong Nguyet Hill.

The 5ha project will feature a replica of a French village circa 19th century. Ba Na was once known as a vacation spot for the French in colonial times, and has 240 villas.
Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of the company, said the village project is expected to give a boost to tourism in Ba Na in the furutre, adding that, the construction of the second cable car system is a necessary part of the project.
