The flight was organised by the project developer in coordination with Quang Tri authorities and the Survey and Mapping Company under the Operations Department of Vietnam's Ministry of National Defence.
The Cessna 208, a multipurpose turboprop aircraft, departed from Dong Hoi Airport in Quang Tri Province and conducted inspections lasting more than 60 minutes.

The aircraft made several passes over Quang Tri Airport at altitudes of 300 and 600 metres, flying at an average speed of 220 kilometres per hour.
Specialist equipment on board captured images to identify potential obstacles near both ends of the runway and assess conditions relevant to flight safety.
Authorities also inspected key airfield infrastructure, including the runway, taxiways and aircraft apron.

The technical flight marks a significant step in preparations for the airport's opening.
Quang Tri Airport, a major transport infrastructure project in the southern part of the province, was more than 80 per cent complete by early October.
Construction is continuing on remaining facilities ahead of technical inspections, final acceptance and the start of operations.
Under a revised master plan issued in July, the airport's aerodrome reference code was upgraded from 4C to 4E, allowing for the planned accommodation of wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 777, Boeing 787 and Airbus A350.

The airport is scheduled to begin commercial operations in March 2027, ahead of the 120th anniversary of the birth of former Communist Party General Secretary Le Duan on April 7.
The opening is also expected to support the 2027 National Tourism Year, which Quang Tri Province will host.
On October 15, authorities signed aviation development cooperation agreements with airlines to lay the groundwork for future services at the airport.
