62-year-old woman detained for wildlife smuggling

Customs at Tan Son Nhat Airport collaborated with the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department under the Ministry of Public Security and the Department of Crimes Related to Economic Management Order and to Positions to detain a 62-year-old woman for illegally transporting wild animal products.

The goods worth over VND2bn (USD88,000)

The authorities then discovered 4kg of elephant tusks, nine elephant tails, three panther skins and talons of various types. It is estimated that the goods worth over VND2bn (USD88,000).

In the past month, customs at Tan Son Nhat Airport have discovered many smuggling cases including five kilo of black rhino horn, and 1.5kg of double-horned rhino horns, both of which are critically endangered. Over four kilos of ivory products and pangolin scales worth tens of billions of VND were seized.
