The three-deck high-speed boat, named Thang Long, which is 77.46m in length and 9.50 m in width, is currently the biggest express boat in Vietnam with capacity of up to 1,017 passengers. The travel time is about three hours.

According to Phu Quoc Express Joint Stock Company, there will be three trips a week from Vung Tau to Con Dao, which will run every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7:30 am, and three return trips every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday at 1 pm.

General Director of Phu Quoc Express JSC, Vu Van Khuong, said that the ferry conducted its first trip on March 9 and would return the following day.

Economy tickets are priced at between VND790,000-950,000 (USD32-38) per person each way. VIP tickets are VND1.10 million. Children, the elderly and disabled are charged VND550,000-760,000.

Con Dao is located 180km from Vung Tau, and about 230km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City. It is well known for beautiful beaches with white sand, deep blue water and colourful coral reefs. The island is also home to many historical sites dating back to the French and American wars.
