Robot 114 is developed by the University of Fire Prevention and Fighting

Robot 114, a product of a state-level scientific research project by the University of Fire Prevention and Fighting, was recently showcased for its firefighting capabilities, including water jet deployment and complex terrain navigation.

The research team, led by university president Le Quang Bon, designed the robot to assist in extinguishing fires at industrial facilities, warehouses, chemical storage sites, and fuel depots. It can also operate in dense urban areas where standard fire engines cannot access, such as narrow alleys and residential neighbourhoods.

Equipped with four cameras, the robot collects real-time data to aid remote operators in navigating fires and deploying firefighting efforts. It also includes a microphone and walkie-talkie system to communicate with and guide trapped victims to safety.

The robot moves using tracked wheels for enhanced mobility and terrain adaptability. Its robotic arm can open doors, break locks, and remove obstacles to access enclosed spaces.

Robot 114 integrates water and foam spray systems to extinguish various types of fires. It is designed to fight fires in structures up to five storeys high and can operate continuously for two to three hours on a full charge, depending on the fire environment.

The robot can withstand temperatures exceeding 200 degrees Celsius with a heat-resistant structure, including fibreglass insulation. Its onboard water-spraying system can help shield the robot from heat damage if temperatures rise further.

Research team member Tran Duc Hoan noted that the project has passed the national scientific evaluation process and is now being used for firefighting training and further research at the university.

Plans are underway to develop Robot 114 Mark 2, with a prototype production project submitted to the Ministry of Public Security. The upgraded version is expected to be used in real-world firefighting operations soon.
