Many Vietnamese businesses are completely unaware of the implications of the country's impending international agreements, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), according to a study.

A study on the business community’s awareness conducted by PACE Institute of Management in HCM City showed that up to 85.5% of Vietnamese firms had no idea about AEC provisions, while the rate of knowledge about the TPP and WTO were 77.8% and 66.3% respectively.
The study comes at a time when Vietnam has concluded negotiations for the TPP and preparations for the AEC, which comes into effect today, December 31.
Awareness about integration has improved over the past two years, however, it is still lower than that of Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.
74.8% of the survey respondents said they had learned about the agreements from the internet, 64% from the print media, 54% from TV, and 50.6% from radio.
