At talks on March 15, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Lao counterpart Thoongsing Thammavong expressed their satisfaction over the constant development in bilateral cooperative relations in various fields.

Two-way trade between the two nations reached US$850 million in 2012, up 17 percent on 2011. Vietnam’s 440 investment projects worth US$5.38 billion have turned the country into one of the leading trade and investment partners in Laos.

The two PMs compared notes on regional and international issues of common concern and agreed to direct ministries, sectors and localities to coordinate closely to effectively carry out the agreements and key projects.

Earlier, PM Dung visited the Lao provinces of Xiengkhuang and Houaphan, showing his sentiment and special attention to the time-honoured friendship between the two countries as well as the people of northern Lao provinces.
