Vietnamese authorities have issued an emergency directive requesting coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Dak Lak, along with relevant ministries and agencies, to proactively respond to Typhoon Fung-Wong after it entered the East Sea early on November 10.

According to the directive, at 4 am the typhoon’s centre was located near 17.3 degrees North and 119.3 degrees East, with maximum sustained winds at level 13 and gusts reaching level 16. The storm is moving west-northwest at around 25 km/h.

The eastern waters of the northern East Sea are experiencing strong winds at levels 8–10, increasing to levels 11-13 with gusts of level 16 near the storm’s path. Waves are estimated at 5-8 m, rising to 8-10 m near the typhoon’s centre, creating very rough seas.

Coastal localities from Quang Ninh to Dak Lak must closely monitor the storm’s developments and strictly manage vessels operating at sea.

Authorities are required to count and notify boat owners and captains of vessels currently at sea about the typhoon’s position, direction, and intensity to ensure proactive safety measures.

The dangerous area within the next 24 hours is defined between 15-21 degrees North latitude and east of 116 degrees East longitude, subject to adjustment in subsequent forecasts.

Localities must prepare personnel and equipment for rescue operations when needed.
