Under a new plan, the city aims for the night-time economy to contribute about 5 per cent of Hanoi's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) by the end of the decade while increasing tax revenue.
Authorities will develop dedicated night-time economy areas focused on culture and heritage, entertainment, creative industries and resort tourism, supported by preferential policies and upgraded infrastructure.
The city also plans to extend weekend and holiday operating hours on the Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line and the Nhon-Hanoi Station line once completed, while introducing subsidised bus services linking major night-time attractions.
The plan includes controlled entertainment zones where licensed bars, clubs and karaoke venues could operate after midnight or around the clock.
Hanoi also plans to launch creative night hubs, expand digital cultural experiences, organise an annual night marathon, and develop e-sports and indoor sports complexes targeting younger visitors.
Authorities said they would continue investing in artistic lighting, digital mapping and late-night public services while taking measures to minimise noise and other impacts on nearby residential areas.
Hanoi has developed pedestrian streets, night tours and cultural performances in recent years, but the sector remains fragmented and has yet to reach its full potential.
