Traffic police and commune officers helped residents move people and essential belongings to the village community hall while monitoring weather conditions and preparing for further emergencies.

Prolonged rainfall have caused subsidence and landslides along a slope near National Highway 4, posing a direct risk to homes below.

The provincial disaster management office forecast further showers, thunderstorms and locally heavy rain across parts of Lao Cai on Thursday, raising the risk of additional landslides and flash floods.

Residents are urged to monitor weather warnings closely and evacuate promptly when instructed.
