According to the ministry's report, 4,360 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 42 localities including HCM City (1,491), Binh Duong (1,107), Dong Nai (653), An Giang (172), and Binh Thuan (149) There were three imported patients confirmed today.
The new infection number showed a decrease of 1,022 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 1,769 infections found in the community.
As of Tuesday evening, 813,735 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (401,494), Binh Duong (217,960), Dong Nai (52,017), Long An (32,941), and Tien Giang (14,231). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 818,324 . The country now stands 43rd among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On October 5, an additional 25,573 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 747,053.
On Tuesday evening, a further 134 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 19,979. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (104), Binh Duong (15), Dong Nai (4), An Giang (3), Can Tho (3), Ca Mau (2), Kien Giang (1), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (1), and Nghe An (1).
The country has so far conducted over 46.96 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 11.61 million people having received two doses.
