Vietnam seeded first in AFF Cup

Vietnam will be the top seed at the ASEAN Football Championship, or AFF-Suzuki Cup, which it is to co-host with Indonesia from December 1-29.

It\'s the first time Vietnam, who won the cup two years ago, has been named the top seed for the regional football championship that is held every two years.

Vietnam will host the draw for the tournament to be telecast live throughout ASEAN\'s ten member countries at Hanoi\'s Sheraton hotel on Wednesday.

Team coach Henrique Calisto and captain Nguyen Minh Phuong will represent Viet Nam team at the draw, which begins at 2.30pm.

Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnam will have byes in the preliminary round, while Laos, Cambodia, the Philippines and East Timor will compete in a round robin for the remaining two berths.

Vietnam will compete against U-23 squads from Kuwait and Australia and the national team of North Korea in the Millennium Thang Long-Hanoi Football Cup on September 20-24.

The team will also play India in a friendly away game on October 8.
