HCM City steps up passenger bus safety checks in Ba Ria-Vung Tau

HCM City traffic police have intensified inspections of passenger buses in the Ba Ria-Vung Tau area amid growing travel demand to coastal tourist destinations.

The city's Traffic Police Department said on October 11 that officers were stepping up patrols, vehicle safety inspections and enforcement against violations involving commercial passenger transport.

The Ba Ria-Vung Tau area attracts large numbers of tourists to its beaches and resorts, increasing demand for passenger transport and the need for stricter road safety measures.

The South Saigon Traffic Police Team has increased patrols on designated routes, focusing on compliance by bus drivers and transport operators.

Officers are inspecting vehicle safety systems, including brakes, steering, tyres, headlights, indicators, horns and other essential equipment, to identify potential hazards and prevent accidents.

Checks also cover drivers' qualifications, transport operating requirements and relevant legal documentation. Violations will be penalised under existing regulations.

Traffic police have urged transport companies, cooperatives and drivers to comply with safety rules, regularly inspect and maintain vehicles, and keep those failing safety standards off the roads.

Authorities said the intensified inspections aimed to reduce accidents and ensure safer journeys for residents and tourists.
