Hanoi Traffic Police said on October 11 that more than 16,500 violations involved motorbikes, while over 2,000 involved cars.

Offences included running red lights, illegal parking, driving in the wrong lane or against traffic, entering restricted roads, using mobile phones while driving, and failing to wear helmets or seat belts.

A review of violations recorded between January and September found several repeat offenders. One motorbike, with registration number 29E2-362.xx, was recorded committing 43 violations, while two others had 39 and 33 violations respectively.

In September alone, the motorbike with registration number 29C1-184.xx committed nine offences, including eight instances of travelling against traffic and one of riding without a helmet.

Under Decree 168/2024, motorcyclists travelling against traffic face fines of VND 4-6 million (USD 152-228) and a two-point deduction from their driving licence.

Riding without a helmet carries a fine of VND 400,000-600,000 (USD 15-23).

Traffic police urged motorists to obey road signs, lane markings and traffic signals, and comply with safety regulations.
