According to the ministry's report, 3,361 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 47 localities including HCM City (749), Dong Nai (605), Binh Duong (517), An Giang (224), Tien Giang (156), Bac Lieu (130), Kien Giang (97), Tay Ninh (90), and Binh Thuan (81). There were 12 imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed a decrease of 616 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 1,332 infections found in the community.
As of Saturday evening, 880,149 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (424,155), Binh Duong (228,316), Dong Nai (61,103), Long An (34.139), and Tien Giang (15,548). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 884,895. The country now stands 40th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On October 23, an additional 1,338 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 804,664.
On Saturday evening, a further 77 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 21,620. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (42), Binh Duong (12), Dong Nai (5), Long An (3), Soc Trang (3), Tien Giang (2), An Giang (2), Ninh Thuan (2), Binh Phuoc (1), Dak Nong (1), Can Tho (1), Tra Vinh (1), Bac Lieu (1), Thanh Hoa (1).
Vietnam today administered more than 1.66 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 71.88 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 20.73 million people having received two doses.
