PM Naoto Kan paid his official visit to Vietnam right after attending the 13th ASEAN-Japan Summit and the 5th East Asia Summit.
During their talks, the two leaders agreed to maintain the exchange of high-ranking delegations and expand dialogues in all areas.
Vietnam decided to partner with Japan to build the second nuclear power plant and conduct rare earth investigation, exploration, and processing here, revealed PM Dung.
The Vietnamese Government and people spoke highly of Japan’s ODA as it substantively contributed to socio-economic development in Vietnam, added PM Dung.
Appreciating PM Dung’s proposals, Japanese PM Naoto Kan confirmed that Japan will wholeheartedly back Vietnam’s nuclear power plant and rare earth projects.
It will also quickly assist Vietnam to deploy the projects on the Long Thanh International Airport, Ninh Binh–Bai Vot Highway, Nha Trang–Phan Thiet Highway, Lach Huyen International Seaport, and new underground metro routes in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Japan will continue close cooperation with Vietnam in human resource development, auxiliary industries, trade, investment, technology, and environmental protection, said the Japanese PM.
Vietnam and Japan commit to close coordination in regional and international forums to deal with issues of common concern like global climate change.
Right after their talks, the two PMs signed a joint statement on the comprehensive development of the Vietnam-Japan strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia.
