Vietnam confirms three more imported Covid-19 patients on October 13

According to the ministry's report, the two new Vietnamese patients aged 20 and 26 returned from Russia at Can Tho International Airport on September 26. They were sent to a quarantine area in Bac Lieu Province upon arrival.

Their first viral testing taken on September 27 showed negative results but their second tests on October 12 came positive for coronavirus.

The two patients are now being treated at the Bac Lieu Provincial General Hospital.

Earlier, 20 other people from Russia who boarded the same flight with the two women were also infected with coronavirus. They are being treated in Bac Lieu Province.

The second patient is a 37-year-old Malaysian man who arrived at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on October 10. He was sent to a quarantine area upon arrival in Bia Ria-Vung Tau Province.

He tested positive for coronavirus on October 12 and is now being treated at the Ba Ria Hospital.

With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 422.

As of 6pm on October 13, a total of 1,025 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

The country has gone 40 days without reporting any new case in the community.

At present, 13,845 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
