Vietnam confirms additional 95 Covid-19 cases

Vietnam announced 95 new locally-infected Covid-19 patients in the past 12 hours to 6 am on June 29, including 89 in quarantined and isolated areas, according to the Ministry of Health.

HCM City accounted for the highest number of patients with 58, followed by Phu Yen with 18, Long An (8), Bac Giang (4), Ha Tinh (3), Nghe An (2), Tra Vinh (1) and Vinh Long (1).
 

Among the total patients, six in HCM City, Long An, Ha Tinh and Vinh Long are still under epidemic investigations to identify the origin of the infection.

The pandemic has spread to the southern region with Ho Chi Minh City emerging as the country’s second largest Covid-19 epicentre after Bac Giang Province.

Some other southern provinces such as Binh Duong, Tien Giang and Long An have also witnessed the Covid-19 patient rise.

By 6 am on Tuesday, Vietnam reported 14,358 local infections and 1,778 cases from abroad. Since April 27, the country has confirmed 12,788 cases.

Yen Bai, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Tuyen Quang, Son La, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Thai Nguyen, Bac Lieu, Dien Bien, Vinh Phuc, Hai Duong and Phu Tho have gone through 13 days without detecting any new cases.

The country has reported 76 Covid-19-related deaths. To date, 6,519 Covid-19 cases in Vietnam have been discharged from hospital.

At present, 204,159 people are being quarantined, including 2,134 at hospitals and the others at quarantine facilities and homes.

Vietnam has administered over 3.49 million Covid vaccine shots, with 172,994 people fully given two doses.
