The Ministry of Health on Friday afternoon announced the death of another Covid-19 patient.
According to the ministry's report, the patient was a 67-year-old man who had been treating lung cancer for three years. His cancer had developed into the fourth stage and metastasised to the brain.
The man came to the National Cancer Hospital in Hanoi on April 22 for radiation therapy for his cancer. He was then moved to a quarantine area after the hospital was locked down following a Covid-19 outbreak. He then tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on May 13 and was sent to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases for treatment.
Despite receiving intensive care and treatment, the patient quickly worsened with septic shock and multi-organ failure. He died on June 3.
This is the 50th Covid-19 related death reported in Vietnam.
