Vietnam reported 400 new locally-infected Covid-19 cases in 11 localities from 6 am to midday on Monday with HCM City still the hardest-hit locality.

According to the Ministry of Health, HCM City recorded 347 patients, including 244 in quarantined and locked down areas. This was followed by Long An (19), Quang Ngai (13), Bac Ninh (6), Phu Yen (4), Tra Vinh (3), Bac Giang (3), Nghe An (2), Ca Mau (1), Ba Ria-Vung Tau (1) and Dak Lak (1).

HCM City has to date logged nearly 8,000 cases since the resurgence of the virus in Vietnam in late April.

The city has put into operation four more new field hospitals to receive and treat patients. It has also planned to apply a home quarantine scheme on a pilot basis for F1 cases that were in first-hand contact with sources of infection.

Until now, 8,077 Covid-19 patients have been given the all-clear from Covid-19, while the death toll now reaches 102.
