At 4.10PM on March 2, the first flight between Hanoi and Rangoon, Myanmar's former capital city, took off from Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi.
The new route will be operated weekly using a Fokker 70 aircraft every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
During the launching period, Vietnam Airlines is offering a promotion price of VND950,000 ($49) per return ticket sold from March 15 to 25 for the departure dates between April 1 to June 10.
With 4 flights per week, Vietnam Airlines wants to encourage more tourists to visit this fascinating destination.
By the end of 2010, the airline plans to increase its Hanoi-Rangoon flights to five per week, using Airbus A320 aircraft.
