Flight VN98 departed from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City at 8:57 pm Sunday (local time) and landed at San Francisco International Airport at 7:42 pm Sunday (local time). The 13,000-kilometre trip took 13 hours and 45 minutes.

Initially, Vietnam Airlines will run two weekly flights and the frequency is expected to be raised to seven flights after the Covid-19 pandemic is brought under control and the Vietnamese government allows it to reopen more regular commercial flights to international markets.
