US senators hold exchange with HCM City students

Senator John McCain, who is leading a US Senate delegation visiting Vietnam this week, met on May 29 with students from the HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The Arizona Republican who is chairman of the US Senate Armed Services Committee said the trip comes at a critical time for US interests in the Asia-Pacific region.

He expressed grave concern over the current developments in the East Sea and voiced his support for settling the issue peacefully and diplomatically in accordance with international law.

At the exchange, McCain and Senators Jack Reed of Rhode Island, Joni Ernst of Iowa and Dan Sullivan of Alaska answered questions  pertaining to Vietnam-US relations over the past two decades and future potential for cooperation.
