Uprooted trees reveal careless planting

The destruction of many of the newly-planted trees on Hanoi streets by the Typhoon Mirinae has triggered doubts over the quality of the planting process.

Nearly 700 trees on Hanoi streets were uprooted by the Typhoon Mirinae which caused havoc in the city on the morning of July 28. The destruction of many of the newly-planted trees has triggered doubts over the quality of the planting process.

New Guinea walnut, cassias and Indian mahogany which have been planted for several months, have now all felled by the storm on many streets including Nguyen Thai Hoc and Nguyen Chi Thanh. The collapse of the trees has revealed how badly planted they were.
