Unregistered users lose mobile services

All prepaid mobile phone users who have not yet registered their personal information have had their subscriptions discontinued.

All prepaid mobile phone users who have not yet registered their personal information have had their subscriptions discontinued.

More than 3 million subscribers who have the same personal information and have more than 3 simcards are allowed to re-register within the next 25 days.

The reasons of detail duplication is that mobile agencies use their details to activate simcards for customers or they use the information of customers who came to their counters to register the details in order to benefit from promotions.

After holding an urgent meeting on January 5, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) has decided to discontinue all calls for nearly 500,000 subscribers who have not registered their details as of December 31, 2009.

The decision was made following the recommendations of all mobile operators, namely, Vinaphone, MobiFone, and Viettel according to Nguyen Xuan Tru, Deputy Manager of the Telecom Department under MIC. There are still many people who are unaware about the registration requirements so it is necessary to protect their interests and extend the registration deadline.

However, the MIC once again requested mobile operators to carry on more effective propaganda so that people can be informed about the details of registration.

In fact, registration counters in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and elsewhere have been constantly overcrowded with subscribers.

There are about one million subscribers who have the same details, according to a representative from Vinaphone.
MobiFone and Viettel said they have over 2 million subscribers on a waiting list to register their details.

At the end of January, all customers who have not yet registered or re-registered their details can go to appropriate registration counters. Mobile operators will give them favourable conditions and support. In the meantime, they will continue checking and updating information about customers’ details.

As for customers who do not register their details or buy simcards without simcard contracts, they may be faced with problems or lose their existing numbers if any dispute takes place.
