According to the ministry's report, the two new patients aged 28 and 33 returned from Japan on two repatriation flights that landed at Can Tho Airport on November 14 and Noi Bai Airport on November 27.

They were sent to quarantine areas upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on November 28 and 29.

The two patients are now being treated at the Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients in Ho Chi Minh City and the Hanoi-based National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 652.

As of 6 pm on November 29, a total of 1,179 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

The country has gone 87 days without reporting any new case in the community.

At present, over 15,000 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
