Two more Covid-19 patients confirmed, total rises to 1,036

A 34-year-old woman who recently returned from Taiwan and a 52-year-old man in Danang City have just tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, raising the total number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam to 1,036, the Ministry of Health announced on Thursday evening.

The woman landed at the Cam Ranh International Airport in Khanh Hoa Province on August 7 and was sent to quarantine upon arrival.

Her first two viral tests carried out on August 8 and August 14 all came negative but the third test conducted on August 26 turned positive.

She is now being treated at the Cam Lam Medical Centre.

Meanwhile, the new patient in Danang had close contact with three residents who were later confirmed as Covid-19 patients.

He is being treated at the Hoa Vang Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.

With these latest infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients have risen to 348 while those related to Danang City have increased to 548 since July 25, the ministry said.

The same day, five more Covid-19 patients were released from hospital following their full recovery, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 637. There have been 30 deaths.

At present, 70,916 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
